About Alison

Hi there! I’m Alison, a literacy specialist and former classroom teacher. Back in 2006, I began a job helping children who were having a hard time learning to read. Seeing how difficult reading was for them made me want to do everything I could to help them. I decided to dedicate my career to ensuring all children have the reading skills they need to thrive.

Since then, I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction. I earned my Master’s Degree in literacy and have been trained in teaching dyslexic children and in the Orton-Gillingham method. In 2012, I founded the Learning At The Primary Pond brand for teachers, which now serves over 250,000 teachers throughout the world.

In 2022, I knew it was time to bring my “offline” work with parents “online.” I created Reading SOS with Alison to help parents of struggling readers, ages 6 to 11. My team and I serve parents through our signature program, Rising Readers, a complete program specifically designed for parents to use with their struggling readers, as well as through Reading Boost Parent Academy, a parent education course.
